Technology Zero is an unlockable passive item added in The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth † (Booster Pack #2).

Effects[ | ]

  • Connects tears with electricity that damages enemies.
    • (except in Repentance) The electricity's damage is equal to Isaac's Damage.
    • (in Repentance) The electricity deals 30% of Isaac's Damage, 15 times per second.
    • A tear can generate one connection. The tear does not generate another connection even after the connection is lost. However, other tears can still make connections with it.
    • Each of Isaac's tears can connect to other allied tears Including those of shooting familiars.
      • The number of connections is limited by the number of Isaac's tears.

  • When playing as Character Jacob and Esau iconJacob and Esau, the tears of the brother who picked up the item will also connect to those fired by his brother. For example, if Jacob picked up the item, his tears will connect to each other as well as to those of Esau, but Esau himself will not fire any electric tears.

Interactions[ | ]

  • The following items override Technology Zero. Tears from other sources such as Collectible Lead Pencil iconLead Pencil can still generate electricity with each other.
  • Collectible Continuum iconContinuum: Tears will travel through walls; however, the electricity will not connect the tears while they are outside the room. If a tear was connected before it pass through a wall, it will not be connected after passing through, limiting the efficiency of the combination.
  • Collectible Flat Stone iconFlat Stone: Tears lose their connection as they bounce. As such, tears cannot make connection to another tear once they bounce, but other tears can make connection to them.
  • (except in Repentance)Collectible Haemolacria iconHaemolacria: Only main tears can be connected.

  • Technology Zero is based on this Steam Workshop item by Ashkait and Scayze.
  • Strangely, this item has the tech item tag, and therefore contributes toward its own unlock, though this should be impossible under normal circumstances.
