Merge the Playing Cards and Playing Card Backs sections?[]

It's bothering me that Suicide King and Queen of Hearts are in different sections on this page. As far as I can see there's no real reason for this, just a bit of disorganization. It seems to me like we could tidy up and consolidate things by just merging those two sections together. I've not edited much here and don't want to presume this is an edit that everyone would be okay with, what do you guys think? Any reasons not to do this? I'll do it if there are no objections. --Kodaichi (talk) 21:29, 11 April 2021 (UTC)

I think the distinction is being made that the former are actual playing cards, and the latter aren't but share the back. However the inconsistency there was that Suicide King i.e. King of Hearts belongs in the former; I renamed the latter as "other playing card backs" hopefully making it a bit clearer? --Frionil (talk) 21:56, 11 April 2021 (UTC)

Ace of questions[]

For Ace of Spades, can you heal with Keeper? Also, for ace of hearts, can you use Tainted Lost?

  • 1. No, Keeper picking up coins to heal still counts as picking up coins and will forfeit the Ace of Spades unlock. 2. Yes, you may use Tainted Lost to unlock the Ace of Hearts as The Lost and his tainted variant work virtually in the same way. Droid Steel Boi (talk) 14:39, 20 July 2021 (UTC)

A murder of crows[]

This should be mentioned re. Soul of Eve as it's something which (it seems to me) that a lot of people – particularly non-native English speakers – may well not realise. (Probably some native English too. I've forgotten a lot of the collective nouns which I learned at school…) Pointlesslylongusername (talk) 22:13, 13 April 2021 (UTC)

It's actually in the trivia section at the bottom (and that's where it belongs tbh). --Frionil (talk) 22:48, 13 April 2021 (UTC)

Curses[]

sun card does not remove curses, only sol does. also, how do you edit info in tables?

The Sun card does actually remove Curse of Darkness in Repentance (but only that curse, no others). Also, remember to add titles to new sections and sign your entries with this: ~~~~ TheMurlocAggroB (talk) 04:44, 15 April 2021 (UTC)

Soul of Jacob and Esau crash[]

I have no idea where to report bugs for the devs, but I might as well list the bug here just in case anyone else gets confused because their game crashes every time they use this item. For the record, I was using Tainted Forgotten, and I was activating the soul using a Voided Clear Rune, but I don't think that matters since it still crashes even if I use it directly.

What's interesting here is that the items Esau spawns with are properly seeded, meaning that every time you use it on a given seed you'll get the same sets of items every time (tho obviously it'll change depending on how many items from which pools you have). Unfortunately, that also means I can't use this soul on this run anymore lol

But yeah, you can clearly see that the final item the game tries to give Esau is Birthright, and then it instantly crashes. This happens no matter how many times I try to continue; The first use of the soul gives the set of items including Star of Bethlehem, and the second use crashes the game. I even tried going to the next floor after using the soul once, and now it crashes the first time I use it after continuing, with the same set of items as before ending at Birthright. The log below shows what happened after I restarted the floor after the first crash, but every log after ends with the same list of items and a crash.

Potential Softlock with Moon? Card[]

So, seems like if the game teleport you to the Ultra Secret Room with Moon? and the red rooms connect to a secret/super secret room, the player might get stuck since they will need a bomb to exit the room, needs to be confirm (Happened to me once but I want more testing just in case)

--TBiscuit1 (talk) 00:45, 14 May 2021 (EST)

Bomb, door-unlocking item (e.g. Dad's Key), teleport item/card/trinket (and a way to trigger it, if appropriate), I Can See Forever, Greed fight… Plenty saw it today after using this card on the first floor of the daily challenge. Pointlesslylongusername (talk) 16:26, 1 July 2021 (UTC)

Soul of the Forgotten[]

The description for the forgotten's rune still says 2 bone hearts instead of 3 when I'm just looking at it, however; when I go to edit it, it says 3, and I only tried to edit this because I noticed someone changed it to say what it's supposed to be(3) however it still appeared as it's older version for me (I've reloaded the page multiple times to make sure). If someone can figure out what's going on or if it's on my end that'd be nice. Skelatone (talk) 12:03, 20 May 2021 (UTC)

You just have to purge the cache. You can do that by hovering over the button that says "More" next to the search bar, and hit purge then press okay. Infoboxes and charts will sometimes lag on edits, so clearing the cache will fix it. TheMurlocAggroB (talk) 03:03, 21 May 2021 (UTC)
Ah, got it, didn't know that button was there, thanks. Skelatone (talk) 11:58, 21 May 2021 (UTC)

Separation into two different pages?[]

With all the new cards and souls added in Repentance, this page has gotten a lot of content. Wouldn't it be a good idea to split its content between two separate pages, Cards and Runes? Also, with the new Clear Rune item being introduced, I don't think there's anything linking cards and runes together now --Meylody (talk) 23:07, 22 May 2021 (UTC)

  • What's the point? There are way more cards than runes, and the runes don't even take much space. They easily compact into this page and I don't see a point in separating them. --Carmph (talk) 17:49, 27 May 2021 (UTC)
  • By that logic, all the pickup pages should be merged together since there's only a few of each. Cards and runes are now completely separate as of Repentance, so I don't think they should be shoved into one page just because they were together in the past. Additionally, there are in fact quite a lot of runes now that soul stones exist, definitely enough to warrant their own page. A separate page for runes would also be very helpful so that you don't have to scroll past every single card to find info on the runes/souls. --Enderhippo (talk) 22:16, 27 May 2021 (UTC)
    • For one thing, you forgot to sign your message. For another, there are still way more cards than runes. For yet another, merging all the pickup pages would not be a terrible idea. Also, there are really not that many soul stones. They fit on the page, I still don't see the point. --Carmph (talk) 20:31, 27 May 2021 (UTC)

Another idea, maybe if splitting wouldn't be great, what about renaming the page to "Consumables"? It would be a more generic title, and wouldn't imply that cards and runes are more linked to each other than things like pills or dice shards? (dice shard which btw is listed on this page while not being either a card nor a rune)
Going this way, we could put a small section about Pills, because it's a consumable, but still have most of the content about them on their own page. Meylody (talk) 17:18, 23 June 2021 (UTC)
I actually agree with the first idea, there's a lot of content on the page, and with nothing linking cards and runes together now there isn't a point for them to still be together. We can move the runes/soul stones to their own separate page and the notes section of this page will get noticeably smaller and more organized as there won't be both notes on cards and runes. And honestly, I feel we can take the "other" section at the bottom of the page and get rid of it all together as the dice shard and emergency contract already have their own sections on the "Special Cards" page alongside stuff like the suicide king and the Magic the Gathering cards and have re-directs already built in to take you there (if I search for the dice shard, it takes me to the dice shard sub-page on the "Special Cards" page and not the cards and runes page where it is already listed), and the cracked key already has it's own separate page anyway with it's respective notes and info. We can make a note on the runes page that back before repentance they were considered cards and items like blank card can be used with them and make it much easier for someone to find what they are looking for by just separating them. Skelatone (talk) 19:15, 23 June 2021 (UTC)
I personally have very little to offer for or against this idea, but I have to point out "nothing linking cards and runes together now" is not a good argument. This is not a Repentance wiki, and for 75% of Isaac:Rebirth, cards and runes ARE the same thing and dice shard IS a card. --Frionil (talk) 19:54, 23 June 2021 (UTC)

Rune shard Perthro[]

Rune shard, when triggering the perthro effect, seems to have a high chance of turning the item into poop. it'll also always reroll the same item, even in a room with multiples items.

XVI - Tower? boss room potential softlock.[]

Using XVI - Tower? on boss room may render trapdoor to the next floor inaccessible, unless Isaac has bombs or flight. --MrSoup678 (talk) 08:04, 12 June 2021 (UTC)

Thought that was already listed, but it's not and it checks out. Adding. --Frionil (talk) 13:06, 12 June 2021 (UTC)

Lovers?[]

As Tainted Lilith it spawned 4 pedestals during the Boss Rush fight. It did not spawn the single pedestal as described here. Also, lead to my death as I only had 4 red heart containers. --Landamus (talk) 00:28, 13 June 2021 (UTC)

Tarot cloth bug, read its page. --Frionil (talk) 00:40, 13 June 2021 (UTC)

Wild Card article?[]

Maybe Wild Card should have a separate article like the rest of the special cards? Or is it too simple to warrant a page?

Page Not Displaying Properly[]

Is the page not displaying properly for anyone else? I can no longer see any of the reversed arcana cards past V - The Heirophant?, and I can't see any of the Runes. --KingSlain2-- 15:52 1/7/21 (cba to make an account sorry)

There should be nothing wrong with the page itself, but something is wrong with how it's cached. Users not logged in are subject to different caching and that version appears broken, and I don't have any solution on how to fix it (non-logged in users are also disallowed from rebuilding the cache). I'll bring it up to some people who might know better. EDIT: I tried clearing the cache while logged in and at least for now I see the proper view even while not logged in. Did that help for you? --Frionil (talk) 16:05, 1 July 2021 (UTC)

Wow you responded super quickly, thank you, yes that seems to have fixed the issue. --KingSlain2-- 00:04 3 July 2021

The Emperor? on Mausoleum/Gehenna II[]

There are two bugs listed for this – one about a fight and one about a crash. Which is correct, or does it only crash sometimes? Pointlesslylongusername (talk) 16:29, 1 July 2021 (UTC)

VI-The Lovers?[]

  • Has nobody thought about the fact that this reversed card mimics the effects of Added in RepentanceMagic Skin Magic Skin, except that it's a single use instead of reusable? Droid Steel Boi (talk) 14:57, 20 July 2021 (UTC)

Emperor? seems to be wrong, maybe[]

In the notes section, there's various extra tidbits on using the Flipped Emperor card on certain floors. I don't have any experience using the card myself, but can someone confirm that these are correct?

It says: "Using it in the Ascent version of Mines II will spawn a room having Dad's Note." but Mines II should never have dad's note, so I don't know why emperor? would give that.

Also: "Using it in the Ascent version of Caves II will teleport you to an extra Mom boss fight. Unlike the normal version, you can exit this fight normally." This just seems like a typo, since only Depths II should cause a mom fight.

Further: "It can be used to skip the Boss Rush after touching a pedestal item. After defeating the extra Mom's Heart, leaving the room will lead you to the regular, locked Mom boss room. The door to the Boss Rush will remain open if the timer allows it, but it cannot be restarted." I believe it is supposed to say "extra Mom", instead of "extra Mom's Heart.

Lastly, in the BUGS section, it says: "Using IV - The Emperor? on Mausoleum/Gehenna II will teleport Isaac to the Mother's fight access room, entering it will crash the game" Mother? this one has to be wrong, how could a mother fight room be in Mauso?

I don't have enough experience with the card, but the documentation seems to be very messy or possibly even wrong. If they are correct, perhaps adding a "even though the floor would not usually have this" on the first two would help with confusion.

These are correct and easily verified by using the debug console. You're missing the point that Emperor? gives boss fights *one chapter below* the current one, so they're entirely expected to happen too. --Frionil (talk) 23:21, 21 August 2021 (UTC)
