Incubus Defeat Hush as Lilith Lilith
Added in Afterbirth

Incubus is an unlockable passive item added in The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth.

Effects[edit | edit source]

  • Spawns a demonic familiar that fires tears.
    • Incubus' tears are affected by Isaac's stats and tear modifiers, Removed in Repentance except range and shot speed.
      • Added in Repentance Incubus' damage is reduced by 25% when playing as characters other than Lilith.
    • Most weapon types such as 15►Brimstone Brimstone and 15►Mom's Knife Mom's Knife carry over to the Incubus.

Notes[edit | edit source]

  • Lilith starts with this item, even if it has not been unlocked. It is her primary method of attacking, as she is blindfolded and cannot fire tears normally.
    • Lilith's starting Incubus is technically not a collected item but an intrinsic part of the character, and is removed if an item such as 15►Ankh Ankh or Added in Afterbirth †15►Clicker Clicker are used to become a different character. As such, playing as Lilith will not add Incubus to the collection page.
  • Incubus is one of the familiars that can be spawned by 15►Cambion Conception Cambion Conception.
  • If an Incubus is acquired through 15►Cambion Conception Cambion Conception or by starting with it as Lilith, another Incubus can still be found normally. Lilith can also receive one from 15►Cambion Conception Cambion Conception in addition to the one she starts with, and if this occurs, 15►Box of Friends Box of Friends will produce only one extra Incubus.
  • Removed in Repentance Incubus ignores the shot speed and range stats completely. Only tear height, which is included in most range-increasing items, has an effect on Incubus' range.
  • When The Forgotten has the Incubus, it will fire bone tears like Added in Afterbirth †15►Compound Fracture Compound Fracture without the splitting effect.
  • Added in Repentance Incubus takes priority over all other following familiars, and will always appear first in line directly behind Isaac.

Synergies[edit | edit source]

  • Azazel / 15►Brimstone Brimstone: Incubus can charge a Brimstone attack while still firing the previous laser, allowing it to fire more rapidly than normal.
    • Instead of being the normal width of Brimstone, the laser fired by Incubus will be the same width as 12►Lil Brimstone▼3►Lil' Brimstone Lil Brimstone's laser.
  • BFFS!: Deals double Isaac's damage.
  • Added in RepentanceForgotten Lullaby Forgotten Lullaby: Doubles fire rate of Incubus.

Interactions[edit | edit source]

  • Added in Afterbirth †15►Analog Stick Analog Stick: Incubus cannot fire in non-cardinal directions, only tears up applies.
  • 15►Cricket's Body Cricket's Body: The range decrease is ignored for the main tears, but not for the split ones.
  • 15►Cursed Eye Cursed Eye: No effect.
    • Added in Afterbirth † / Removed in RepentanceA burst of 3 tears is fired at the regular tear delay without needing to charge.
    • Added in Repentance A burst of 5 tears is fired and the need to charge it.
  • 15►Dead Eye Dead Eye: The damage multiplier can be raised by Isaac's tears, but not by Incubus' tears. Incubus tears still receive the damage boost.
  • 15►Dead Onion Dead Onion: Shot speed is not affected, but the range is decreased slightly due to tear height.
  • 15►Epic Fetus Epic Fetus: Isaac shoots guided missiles while Incubus still shoots normal tears.
  • 15►Evil Eye Evil Eye: Incubus is unable to fire Evil Eye shots.
  • Added in Afterbirth †15►Eye of Greed Eye of Greed: Incubus is unable to fire golden tears.
  • Added in Afterbirth †15►Flat Stone Flat Stone: The effective range of Incubus' tears is roughly doubled, with a single bounce in the middle of the flight.
  • 15►Guillotine Guillotine: Incubus will fire tears in relative position to its body depending on where Isaac's head is currently.
  • Added in Afterbirth †15►Ghost Pepper Ghost Pepper: No effect on Incubus.
  • 15►Isaac's Tears Isaac's Tears: The item is recharged by Isaac's tears, not Incubus'. This item works with Lilith.
  • 15►Kidney Stone Kidney Stone: Incubus ignores range down from item and will fire tear barrage but not the stone.
  • Added in Afterbirth †15►Large Zit Large Zit: No effect on Incubus.
  • 15►Loki's Horns Loki's Horns: No effect on Incubus.
  • 15►The Ludovico Technique The Ludovico Technique: Spawns a controllable tear while retaining the ability to fire normal tears. Incubus' tears become piercing and spectral.
  • 15►Maw of the Void Maw of the Void: Damage increased. Incubus will not trigger the void ring.
  • 15►Marked Marked: Fire rate increased. Removed in Repentance Incubus fires continuously in the direction the character is facing.
    • Added in Repentance Incubus will now properly target the crosshair.
  • 15►Mom's Eye Mom's Eye: No effect on Incubus.
  • 15►Mongo Baby Mongo Baby: Does not copy Incubus's tear effects.
  • 15►My Reflection My Reflection: Since Incubus ignores shot speed the tears turn back very quickly, greatly reducing effective range.
  • R U a Wizard?: No effect on Incubus.
  • 15►Tech.5 Tech.5: No effect on Incubus.
  • 15►Tech X Tech X: Incubus shoots small, fixed-size Tech X laser rings, with a very slightly longer minimum charge than Isaac.
  • 15►Technology 2 Technology 2: No effect on Incubus other than a damage down.
  • 15►Tractor Beam Tractor Beam: Range increased, but the trajectory is unaffected.
