If the room is not completed yet: Every 40 seconds starting with 00:00 in-game timer (00:00 → 00:40 → 01:20 → 02:00... etc.), trigger a shield for 10 seconds.
The effects persist through rooms if Isaac doesn't gain Red Hearts.
This item is difficult to use for anyone with red health, as it is impossible to have no red hearts without removing all heart containers (such as through Devil deals). It is best used by characters that cannot gain red health at all, such as ???.
Characters can now deplete their red health fully through sources like Blood Donation Machines while having other hearts like Soul Hearts. As a result, this item is usable for a wider amount of characters, and has synergies with characters who prefer to have no red health (such as Eve).
With the way the item works, players can abuse the timer to gain invulnerability upon entering a room. On odd minutes the effect always activates on the 20th second, on even minutes it activates on the 00th second and the 40th second. Entering a room before the effect applies the effect immediately.
Gnawed Leaf: If the player has no Red Hearts, they can stand still and wait for the shield to activate, allowing the player to deal damage without leaving invulnerability.
