Added in Afterbirth

Eden's Blessing is an unlockable passive item added in The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth.

Effects[]

Notes[]

  • The effect still occurs whether the run was successful or not, even if the run was restarted.
  • The effect does not work if Eden's Blessing was obtained on a seeded run, during a Victory Lap, a RERUN, or during a challenge.
    • Likewise, Eden's Blessing will not grant a free item at the start of a challenge or RERUN, instead granting the free item on the next valid run started.
      • Interestingly, seeded runs will still gain the benefit of banked Eden's Blessings, without depleting them. This means that it is possible to play an infinite amount of seeded runs, and they all start with a free item until a normal run is started.
  • Even if Eden's Blessing is re-rolled, such as with the 15►D4 D4 or 15►D100 D100, a random item will still be granted at the start of the next run.
    • If Eden's Blessing is then regained through 15►Glowing Hour Glass Glowing Hour Glass, only one extra item will be given.
    • Absorbing Eden's Blessing with Added in Afterbirth †15►Void Void will not grant an extra item in the next run.
  • Eden's Blessing can choose itself as the free item you gain, allowing for another free item in your next run.
  • If more than one Eden's Blessings are acquired in a single run, that quantity of random items will be granted at the start of the next run, although it's capped at ten items.
    • It is possible to obtain multiple copies of an item at once this way.
  • If Eden's Blessing effect is obtained through Added in Afterbirth †15►Metronome Metronome, no extra item will be given.
  • If gained from Added in Repentance15►Lemegeton Lemegeton, it will not grant an item next run.
  • Eden's Blessing can grant multiple copies of the same item.
  • Taking Eden's Blessing and then starting a run as Added in RepentanceJacob and Esau Jacob and Esau will only give item(s) to Jacob.
  • Added in Repentance As Tainted Lazarus Tainted Lazarus, the item will be given to his alive form.
  • Upon the use of the Added in RepentanceR Key eden's blessing shall remain in the player's inventory and no extra items will be gained.

Bugs[]

Bug Bug! Removed in Afterbirth † A bug may occur when the item is picked up, and 15►Glowing Hour Glass Glowing Hour Glass is used with either ? Card ? Card or 15►The Battery The Battery to reverse time, out of the room, restoring your ability to get out using either of the two items and the 15►Eden's Blessing Eden's Blessing pickup. This will allow you to generate an endless amount of 15►Eden's Blessing Eden's Blessings, which will all carry over to your next run, and may be repeated endlessly.
Bug Bug! If Added in Afterbirth †15►Clicker Clicker turns the player into Jacob and Esau Jacob and Esau, after collecting 15►Eden's Blessing Eden's Blessing previously in the run, any items that would have been normally gained at the beginning of the next run are instead given to Jacob and Esau Jacob and Esau instantly. This makes it so that no free random items are gained at the start of the next run.
Bug Bug! If the game crashes on the floor where you have taken Eden's Blessing (like during a breaking run), that counts as +1 item for the next run. If you continue the saved game and you take Eden's Blessing again, you gain an additional +1 item for that run. This process can grant you "unlimited" items for the next run.
Bug Bug! Added in RepentanceUsing Jacob & Esau or Forgotten Soul after taking eden's blessing will cause the game to give the free item to the copy made by the soul
  • From the bugs listed above, one can potentially "soft-lock" the game by overflowing the number of items one gets. This repeats and crashes until it fully loads, which may take several attempts to load. Anywhere over 1000 Eden's Blessings will have an increased chance to permanently soft-lock the game; therefore, these bugs are highly unadvised to abuse.
    • Added in Afterbirth † Up to 10 Eden's Blessing items will be given per run. Any remaining Blessings will continue to be given each run until you have no more left.
    • Added in Repentance Free items gained from Eden's Blessing do not carry over to subsequent runs and are capped at 10 free items for only the next run.
