(in Repentance)

C Section is a passive item added in The Binding of Isaac: Repentance. It is Character Tainted Lilith iconTainted Lilith's starting item.

Effects

  • Instead of tears, Lilith launches a baby attached via umbilical cord out of her stomach, dealing x3 damage to enemies it hits.
    • The delay between the baby launching is limited by tear delay, so items that increase tear delay like Collectible The Inner Eye iconThe Inner Eye may make this item much less effective.
  • The baby will fire tears while the fire button is held, and moves in the direction of the fire buttons. It returns to Tainted Lilith once fire is released. The baby is not restricted to cardinal directions, and with a gamepad can be controlled with the right analog stick.
  • The baby has flight and can only move a limited distance away from Tainted Lilith.

Interactions

  • The baby follows the same combos as if it were Isaac. There are a few unique interactions:
    • Collectible BFFS! iconBFFS!: Increases the damage of baby's tears, but the launch attack is unaffected.
    • Collectible Blood Clot iconBlood Clot: No effect. The baby won't shoot tears with the Blood Clot effect.
    • Collectible The Ludovico Technique iconThe Ludovico Technique: Spawns a Ludovico tear when Lilith launches the baby. The tear disappears when the baby returns to Lilith's belly.
    • Collectible Brimstone iconBrimstone: The baby charges up the laser and when released shoots it and retracts back to Lilith. It should be noted that this item makes Lilith launch baby less frequently, due to an increase in tear delay.
    • Collectible Mom's Knife iconMom's Knife: The baby carries a knife in his hands that points in the direction of where the tears would be firing, and the baby will no longer retreat back into Tainted Lilith's stomach.
    • Collectible Monstro's Lung iconMonstro's Lung: Like Brimstone, baby charges, and when released, shoots monstro's lung shots. Greatly increases delay between being able to launch the baby.
    • Collectible Chocolate Milk iconChocolate Milk/Collectible Tech X iconTech X: Minimises delay between launching the baby. When fire button is released fires a shot and returns to Tainted Lilith.
    • Collectible Marked iconMarked: The baby will not return to Lilith's stomach, and will try to follow where the Mark is. The baby will return when Marked is deactivated with the Drop button.
    • Collectible Tractor Beam iconTractor Beam: Tears will begin firing in front of Tainted Lilith from the point where the baby would reach furthest out, regardless of the baby's current location.
    • Collectible Spirit Sword iconSpirit Sword: The baby wields a sword that can be swung multiple times before returning to Lilith. If the fire button is held, the sword will deal damage once before disappearing until the baby is sent out again. The spin attack functions normally, but will immediately return the baby. The sword swing being able to collect pick-ups means Lilith will be able to collect pick-ups and open chests from very far away.

Notes

  • In order to obtain C Section for the "Dead God!!" achievement, you must obtain C Section on a character that is not Tainted Lilith, possible with the Death Certificate, or by starting with the item as Eden.

Trivia

  • Caesarean Section, or C Section for short, is a surgical procedure by which a baby is delivered through an incision in the mother's abdomen.
  • The item is unavailable for anyone except Tainted Lilith, and if acquired through cheating, does not work properly.
    • After it is unlocked by defeating The Beast as Character Lilith iconLilith it can become one of the starting items for Character Eden iconEden, but still won't work.
    • It can also be obtained through Eden's Blessing.
