Binding of Isaac: Rebirth Wiki

(in Afterbirth † and Repentance)
This article is about Brittle Bones, similar in appearance to Compound Fracture.

Brittle Bones is an unlockable passive item added in The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth † (Booster Pack #5).

Effects[ | ]

  • When being picked up:
  • Upon losing a Bone Heart, including ones acquired from other sources, Isaac fires a ring of 8 bones that split into more bones.
    • (except in Repentance) Each Bone Heart lost adds a permanent +0.5 tears up.
    • (in Repentance) Each Bone Heart lost adds a permanent +0.4 fire rate, which can break the tear fire rate cap.
    • Each bone does twice Isaac's damage plus a flat 22 damage; split bones do half this amount.

Notes[ | ]

  • Picking this item up as Character The Lost iconThe Lost or Character Keeper iconKeeper will give a one-time +0.5 tears up ((in Repentance) +0.4 fire rate). This bonus is retained even if the item is later lost or rerolled.
  • (in Repentance) The tears up bonuses gained through this item will persist in the escape sequence of MinesMines II.
  • (in Repentance) Losing Bone Hearts through a Devil Deal will not give the tears up effect.
  • If Brittle Bones is removed (such as by reroll effects like the Collectible D4 iconD4 or by being dropped by (in Repentance) Character Tainted Isaac iconTainted Isaac), its tear upgrades will not be removed.
    • Lost Bone Hearts will no longer provide a +0.5 tears up ((in Repentance) +0.4 fire rate) bonus, and will not be remembered if the item is acquired again.
