Deals a full heart of damage to Isaac instead of half a heart.
Drops a Red Heart after every 10 kills instead of a half red heart.
Has 50 health instead of 20 (effective health is ~400-500).
Each boss killed by Blood Puppy counts as killing 4 enemies.
Notes[ | ]
Blood Puppy appears in the Bestiary as a type of monster if Isaac turns it back to normal after it becomes angry. This is required to complete the Bestiary.
Blood Puppy is not targeted by other familiars while it is angry.
Blue Flies and other familiars that deal contact damage will still damage Blood Puppy if they happen to collide.
Mr. ME! will target Blood Puppy if the crosshair targets nothing and there are no enemies in the room, and has a chance to do so if there are enemies in the room.
Since Bombs ignore armor, a single bomb will tame the Blood Puppy.
Stages 2 and 3 of Blood Puppy are an enemy for all intents and purposes, similar to Dark Esau. This means it can be affected by, for example, the slow effect of Broken Watch.
Friendly Blood Puppies will spawn beside Isaac when he enters a new room, while hostile ones will spawn in the middle or opposite ends of the room.
Once a hostile Blood Puppy spawns, it might start targeting Isaac, ignoring any enemies it may have spawned on top of. This can be dangerous, as you may unexpectedly get cornered from multiple sides right as you enter a room.
Starting the Mega Satan or Dogma fight while Blood Puppy is angry can be dangerous, as it will let Blood Puppy attack Isaac while he is unable to move during the boss's spawning animation.
C Section: C Section babies do not home on angry Blood Puppy.
Camo Undies: While the camo effect is active, stages 2 and 3 of Blood Puppy will not target Isaac, but will still target other enemies.
Eraser: Using Eraser on Blood Puppy while it's angry will permanently prevent it from advancing to the erased phase. Using it on phase two will prevent it from becoming angry altogether.
Flush!: Using Flush! will instantly tame an angry Blood Puppy and create a Poop.
Freeze Effects: "Killing" an angry Blood Puppy by freezing it will cause it to stay frozen until Isaac touches it or leaves the room, causing the frozen Blood Puppy to revert back to its tamed phase.
Friendly Ball: Using the ball on an angered Blood Puppy will instantly tame it. Using the ball again results in a purely cosmetic blood explosion.
Friendly enemies: Either angry version of Blood Puppy will target friendly enemies as well and can drag them along with it when it charges them. Blood Puppy cannot damage friendly enemies; however, friendly enemies can damage Blood Puppy despite not targeting it outright.
GB Bug: Hitting Blood Puppy with GB Bug will transform it into a random enemy and spawn a tamed Blood Puppy.
God's Flesh: If an angry Blood Puppy is shot with a God's Flesh tear, Isaac can instantly change it back to a tamed Blood Puppy by touching it.
Meat Cleaver: If Blood Puppy is angry, splits it into two copies. One copy can level up and be tamed like normal, but the other cannot level up and dies instead of being tamed.
Spider Mod: An angry Blood Puppy can be inflicted with a random status effect if the spider comes into contact with it.
Status effects will persist through multiple rooms.
