Bedroom

From Binding of Isaac: Rebirth Wiki
Jump to: navigation, search

The Bedroom is a special room located behind a double plank door, requiring two bombs to open. Bedrooms can be either clean or dirty; each version has a different map icon and color scheme. It always contains a bed and a carpet in the center. Isaac can sleep in the bed once to recover all Red Hearts. Bombing the carpet in the middle of the room will reveal a trap door, leading to either a Crawl Space in clean bedrooms, or the next floor in dirty bedrooms. Bedrooms are more likely to appear if Isaac has low health.

Notes[edit | edit source]

  • If Isaac already has full health when touching the bed, it will not activate the sleep sequence.
  • If Isaac has no Red Heart containers, the bed will add three Soul Hearts instead.
  • The bed provides no benefit for The Lost The Lost and Tainted Lost Tainted Lost. Once activated, the sleep sequence will play, but afterward, there will be no notable effect.
    • This will still count towards unlocking the Added in Afterbirth †15►Blanket Blanket.
  • Using a bed takes no game-tracked time. In spite of the pause in movement and slow fade out, the timer will display the same time when Isaac can move again as it did when he stopped moving.
  • Sometimes the carpet can be obstructed by an Urn or bed, making it impossible to reveal the trapdoor under it. Even if the Urn is blown up, there will be no trapdoor under the carpet.
  • Added in Afterbirth A bed can sometimes be found in an Arcade.
  • Added in Afterbirth Rarely, a Blue Gaper can spawn in a Bedroom.
  • Added in Afterbirth † When using a bed with The Forgotten The Forgotten, he will get all Bone Hearts filled and The Soul will receive 3 Soul Hearts.
  • Added in Afterbirth † There is a chance that a Beggar can appear in the room instead of the bed.
  • Added in Repentance Mom's Dressing Table has a 50% chance of appearing inside a Bedroom if Isaac has more than eight items.
  • Added in Repentance Soul hearts will be used to charge the Added in Repentance15►Alabaster Box Alabaster Box first, as if they were picked up normally.
  • When playing Jacob and Esau Jacob and Esau, the bed will only heal the one that touched the bed.

  • The trapdoor under the carpet will always lead to a Crawl Space.
  • Removed in Afterbirth In addition to healing Isaac, sleeping in the bed will also give one additional charge to his currently held activated item.
    • The sleep sequence must be activated to get the charge. If the player wishes to recharge their item while Isaac is at full health, they have to intentionally take at least half a Red Heart damage before.
  • Added in Afterbirth The room occasionally has two clean beds instead of one.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • The bedroom looks similar to the inside of Link's House in The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past.
  • Having a trapdoor under the carpet is a reference to the fact that Isaac escapes from his mother by finding one under a carpet in his bedroom. Likewise, the barred door might also allude to the intro, where his mother locks him inside his room.
  • Despite being so similar, Clean and Dirty Bedrooms have different room ids (18 and 19 respectively).
  • A bedroom can spawn with no trapdoor under the carpet if there is an Urn on the carpet instead.
  • Added in Repentance Bedrooms are the only special rooms that are not automatically identified on the map before entering them, since shops, libraries, vaults, and dice rooms were all given distinctive doors in Repentance, but clean and dirty bedrooms still have the same doors.
